EXTENDED! Apply by August 8th!
We are now seeking new grad students to serve in the 2026 cohort! GSAC represents student and postdoc interests to SSE Council and facilitates interaction among students, postdocs, and mentors at #Evol2025 and throughout the year.
In case you missed it, our #evol2025 wrap up + introduction of new editor, president-elect and council, as well as student award winners!
Did you attend #evol2025 in Athens? Fill out the survey!
Were you unable to come? Fill it out anyway! The organizers of @evolmtg.bsky.social are soliciting feedback on challenges to attendance to inform decisions in future years.
I am thrilled that this manuscript is now out in the world! If you saw my talk at #Evol2025 you may remember me discussing how religion, politics & war shape urban evolution & now you can read all about it here: www.nature.com/articles/s44...
[1/11] A quick rundown to our density-dependent biogeographic model of species diversification below:
P.S. Preprint coming up soon! #Evol2025
What a blast attending my first in-person Evolution meetings!
Had the opportunity to present our work on:
1. A new biogeographic model of species diversification that accounts for species richness.
2. Phylogeography model for infectious disease transmission with visitor dynamics.

a couple of days late, but wanted to thank the organizers of #Evol2025 for an amazing conference! My favorite talk by far was @jbyoder.org 's IDEAL talk, which quite literally brought me to tears. Luckily its on youtube! www.youtube.com/live/vfDKMEy...
#evol2025 was super fun on a nerd level (I got to talk ConGen and critters with new people!), BUT it was ALSO the first time in 7(!?!) years that I got to hang with one of my oldest bffs, @namadalerwel.bsky.social Would love to see her more, but always grateful to pick up where we left off ❤️ 🦄🤘😻
1/13 Time to talk about dogs and fossilized birth-death models! Here is a quick run-down of my #Evol2025 talk. 🧵
A projector screen with a title slide that reads "Secondary Woodiness as a Driver of Divergence" with photos of Mimulus australis and Mimulus clevelandii. To the right of the screen is me standing behind a podium.
Had a great time at #Evol2025 learning about some super cool research, making some lovely friends, and presenting some research of my own. Thank you to everyone who made this happen - organizers, conference center staff, and the wonderfully diverse group of evolutionary biologists
And here it is:

Such a @basantakhakurel.bsky.social thing to promise something “in the coming weeks” and then turn around and have it done like the next day #evol2025
After a series of flight delays, rerouted via Tokyo on my way home from #Evol2025 and not complaining 🥰

Fun times at the Evolution meeting #Evol2025 in Athens Georgia this past week, Rhododendron was definitely representing!
Extra special Shout Out to this lovely Rhododendron prunifolium @vkoelling.bsky.social and I came across during the super social at the State Botanical Garden 🪴
Back from #Evol2025, where I saw a lot of great talks and forgot to take many pictures. I’m proud of @bellasoto.bsky.social for doing a great job presenting her undergraduate work with me on Rhododendron prunifolium. And it was great to be back in Athens after so many years away!
Back from #evol2025 how’s the rest of reality doing
Big week for my lab. I presented at #Evol2025 and 2 MS students defended. Congrats Cian (microbiomes and plant soil feedbacks) and Josh (coevolution of Astragalus and rhizobia)!! The whole lab crew celebrated with drinks on the Lakeshore (5 min walk from lab).
1of2 At home again after a wonderful, inspiring, and overall awesome #Evol2025 in Athens, Georgia! It was great to meet new people, to talk and meet with friends and collaborators @alexandraimre.bsky.social @caitismuheil.bsky.social and to hear great talks on yeasts, evolution, and science overall..
#Evol2025 was a huge success! Loved meeting so many cool people and hearing some incredible talks. Bonus points for giving me a reason to visit home in GA🍑

I had a great time at #Evol2025! Met a lot of amazing researchers and got to chat with them, roamed around in the lovely (although humid) city of Athens, and gave my first Evolution talk! Can't wait to meet everyone next year.
Incredibly honest, inspiring and insightful address given by the president of the American Society of Naturalists, Prof. Daniel L. Bolnick at #Evol2025. Highly recommended.
#Evol2025 was for me maybe the most important meeting I have ever been to. My science will be drastically improved by my interactions over the past week. It was bittersweet due to the current situation and the people who weren't there, but I'm optimistic that we are strong enough to overcome this.
#NearLab had a great time at #Evol2025, Julia Wood and @chasedbrownstein.bsky.social gave outstanding talks and Chase was awarded the SSE Presidents' Award for Outstanding Dissertation Paper published in the journal Evolution!
Thanks for sharing Jeremy ! #Evol2025
NC State at #Evol2025!

If anyone needs me, this is how I am recovering from #Evol2025 (photo cred to Drake who caught me resting my eyes yesterday 😴)
Spending the evening at the UGA State Botanical Gardens was a great way to close out Evolution! #Evol2025

Already missing the #Evol2025 meeting in verdant Athens! It was inspiring to hear the amazing science everyone has been doing, and as always, see old and meet new evolutionary biologists.
Always fun to catch up with a fellow Bama grad at #Evol2025! @peadams.bsky.social
