They're in the walls: With this new find of a skull deposited inside a niche in a special building at #Sefertepe in SE Türkiye's Urfa region, the pattern of Pre-Pottery #Neolithic mortuary ritual thickens, including #excarnation & #exhibition of the dead.

This, plastering and painting, of course only could have been done to the bare bones once there was no flesh anymore - hinting at a later exhumation of bodies ... or #excarnation ('defleshment') in the course of #burial #ritual.
