a frame of rendition of Bad Apple, where we see a black silhouette of an anime girl standing and holding an apple, viewed from the side, upon an all-white background. The graphics are blocky using text block glyphs.
Well, I did it. Bad Apple on the #F256K2 from #Foenix Retro Systems.
80x60 text mode, 20 fps, native mp3 playback with its VS1053b onboard chip. all in glorious 8-bit 6502 mode.
Never knew how to do a "Bad Apple" implementation, so I sat down, and learned by doing it!

Nice simple tie between MIDI events and RGB addressable LED on this case of my #F256K2 from Foenix Retro Systems.
This is my own programmed standard MIDI file player made in C.

#F256K2 I recently learned to program the PS/2 mouse on my Foenix machine, so that means GUI elements!
I've got some plans for these switches, and sliders...
screenshot of a space shoot 'em up video game where it's split in 4 quarters, each showing a different era of computer video game. In each of the 4 images, you see a space background with stars, a planet and a ship rocketing towards the right. Top left: in monochrome green showing "1979 TI pulse generator" Top Right: in more colors reminescent of the C64, but still limited showing "1983 SID Chip" Bottom Left: even more colors, showing "1988 Yamaha FM Synth" Bottom Right: even more colors, showing "1991 General MIDI". These texts refer to the F256K2 sound chips being used in each era while the game is playing. Click on the video link to hear them!
I'm making a space shoot 'em up for my #F256K2 while participating in a week long Game Jam. The twist is that you go across computer video game ages and the graphics and sound scale up the "Bit Ladder" with you as you buy upgrades.

Stretching the limits of this homebrew music format, that can use all the sound chips simultaneously on the #Foenix #F256K2
I'm playing a SID pad-like instrument in real time with a MIDI keyboard over the preset beat/jingle thing that uses MIDI, PSG and OPL3. Indicators say which chip is active.
another FireJam example, my programming project for #F256K2 from #Foenix. This iconic OPL2 tune from Ultima Underworld has the bell instrument autoplaying the background, and I play its bass over it in real time. See my replies to this thread to see other instruments layered in, MIDI and SID! 1/3 🧵
Big progress in my FireJam programming project for #F256K2 from #Foenix. I can set a background "jingle" that mixes any of its sound chip channels while I still play a midi controller in real time. I can export that jingle format to game code too. Here, the SID music from M.U.L.E. I'd featured
I've been deep diving into programming the YMF262 OPL3 chip of my #F256K2 and what better way to understand how old adlib/SB tunes were made. Here's a quick video on how my reverse engineering of Ultima Underworld 1 sounds like with my coded instruments. I played with a midi in keyboard
#F256K2 a satisfying demo using MIDI and sprites, programmed by a Mike (not me!)

FusionDrive, an outrun-like game, with a red-orange sunset and a skyline in the distance.
FireJam, a piano program with MIDI in controlling notes that can output to MIDI, SID, OPL3 and PSG
a Mp3 player with spectrum analysis bands
a standard MIDI file player with a list of instruments playing on each of the 16 channels, with instrument names
that feeling when you just released 4 major updates to C programming projects to this niche new retro platform #F256K2 all at once this weekend, in preparation for a VCF East you won't even attend, but the creator of said platform will use for the demo table.
#8-bit
Gotta leverage that LCD screen. I made a logo in Aseprite for my mp3 player for the #F256K2 in 8bit mode
Like Winamp, but instead of a lightning⚡, it's a fire! Because. Foenix. Amirite?
#F256K2 finally got my spectrum analyzer part of my C mp3 player going on my 8-bit mode F256K2. That took a lot of tries and guesswork.

After a solid fight, I did it! MP3 playback with my C source code running on a 8bit 6502 machine with 512kb of RAM, the #F256K2 which has a VS1053b chip. I don't do this for a living so I'll call it an achievement for me!
