This has been going on since Inauguration Day. All of the environmental justice workers at EPA have already received notice of intent to fire. (To be clear—their crime is working in a program that has existed since the 90s and is focused on protecting the public health of vulnerable communities). We are expecting more waves of firings and it’s not going to be pretty. This is taking a long time because there are a lot of protections for federal workers so that the federal workforce isn’t dismantled and replaced every time there is an
