Graphic titled "Best Practices to Hold Space for Grief" on a soft blue gradient background. The text emphasizes that we don’t need to rescue people from grief but rather let them move through their journey. It encourages sitting with your own discomfort and honoring the grief of children and others by being transparent and honest. It advises against the belief that children shouldn't be involved in adult matters, noting that children can sense distress. The final section affirms that grieving animal companions is valid and that their absence can have a lasting impact. The BEAM (Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective) logo appears in the bottom right corner.

Graphic titled “Feel it to Heal it: Tips on Grief” with a soft blue gradient background. It provides two main tips.

The first tip notes that people withdrawing or being less present with family might be expressing unspoken grief. Suggestions include bringing them a plate or not forcing conversation.

The second tip encourages checking in and allowing sadness, including acknowledging the loss. It recommends honoring a person, pet, or experience by remembering their legacy, uplifting them in prayer, and normalizing grief. A sample phrase is included: “I can’t believe they’re still not here,” which reflects processing loss.

Feel it to Heal it: Tips on Grief

Ask for consent before posting or discussing the loss.
Before playing videos, pictures, tagging people's memories on social media.
Be okay with folks walking away from conversations and creating boundaries.
While it may not have been your intention to cause discomfort, it's important to do our best to minimize it when it arises. Consider checking in with the family member afterward to offer support.

You’re not broken for feeling low. You’re human. Healing isn’t about constant happiness — it’s about creating space for all of you, even the parts that hurt. That’s real peace.
