A color film photograph (converted to B&W) of the Trenton Transit Center on S. Clinton Ave. In Trenton, NJ. Rail service in Trenton dates back to the days of the Camden and Amboy Railroad, which built a station on East Street in 1837, until it was moved to the current site in 1863. The current station dates from a major re-construction project completed in 2008. It is truly a regional transit center, with Amtrak Regional and National service, New Jersey Transit rail & bus service to New York and points north, NJT Light Rail River Line Service to Camden and points south, and SEPTA commuter rail service to Philadelphia all converging at this point. About 2.5 million people depart from this station annually.

The Bell Telephone Company was the initial corporate entity from which the Bell System originated to build a continental conglomerate and monopoly in telecommunication services in the United States and Canada. Now converted into apartments, The Bell "is an iconic landmark in Downtown Trenton where residents will enjoy a range of premium amenities including a fitness center, movie theater, lounge, co-working space and storage."

These beautiful mosaics adorn several bridges that span the Trenton Freeway in the capital area. I think they may be a reference to the D&R Canal (1829-1933) which ran through Trenton until 1952 when it was covered over and converted to this freeway. The canal still flows under several sections of the Freeway. The rest of the D&R Canal still serves the state as a 70-mile long "linear" state park - one of the true jewels of central Jersey. Not many know that is is still a critical piece of infrastructure, providing drinking water to hundreds of thousands of residents.
