Entrance sign for The Stanley Rehder Carnivorous Plant Garden. It includes a map of this small park in the middle of Wilmington NC, a photo of Rehder tending some Venus Flytraps, and out outlines the 25 years he spent cultivating and building this garden.

A patch of Pitcher Plants in bloom. Tall thin green stems curled over at the top, with a large dangling yellow flower. Some aren't yet open, and appear a bulbs on the end of the stalk. Leaves beside the blossom stems are wide and tapered. These will open up later in the summer, and become the actually insect trapping "pitcher" of the plant.

A patch of several small Venus Flytrap plants, in various stages of growth. Some are mature and open, waiting to trap the unwary. There are also some smaller immature traps that aren't quite ready to hunt.

A very large (crow-sized) Pileated Woodpecker, who refused to fly away from me, but also refused to give me a good clear photo shot. This impressing bird is mostly black as it hangs on the side of a tree, with some of the white of its wings visible. It's bright red pointed topknot draws attention to the black and white stripes of its head and neck.

Didn't see any #Sundews while visiting the Rehder Carnivorous Plant Garden yesterday. However did spot quite a few of our other native #carnivores - Venus #Flytraps, #Pitcher Plants (in bloom!), and one honking chonk of a Pileated #Woodpecker.
