We visited St John the Baptist Church, Sedlescombe, here's their C15 font, its of a plain octagonal style, the polygonal cover is thought to be C16th.

C19th ten-sided stone font with rather elegant marble colonnettes around base; wooden lid with foliate wrought iron decoration.
A thoroughly enjoyable Victorian country church, kindly unlocked for us.

At West Overton the font, guarded by an eagle, takes central stage underneath the tall west tower which Charles Ponting completed in 1883 as part of his rather grand gothic rebuild for such a small village. #FontsOnFriday #Wiltshire
I’m heading for Dartington this morning so here’s the granite font which was moved from old St Mary’s behind the Hall to the new church at Huxham’s Cross

The guidebook describes it as carved from Catacleuse, a quaetz-porphyry stone, from the Padstow area of Cornwall

Much damaged circular tub font hidden behind a piano and wedged into a corner between a radiator and two fire extinguishers in a church.
Oh the indignity wrought by the Victorians!
Cast off, hidden and ignored after the church was rebuilt, the original Romanesque font at All Saints, Braunston, Northamptonshire shows signs of a church of great antiquity now all but lost to the world. #FontsOnFriday
