THis magazine works several months ahead of the publication date, and I only sent my idea a couple weeks ago so there was zero chance of anything fishy. Magazine was already typeset and ready for press before I sent my idea. #FreelanceFriends

So, for FHF ... I ran across this on LinkedIn recently, and I've never been to a AA meeting but the sentiment really resonated with me. #FreelanceFriends

Seriously! A couple weeks ago I sent an idea about vertical micro-dramas only to get the new issue of the magazine last week with a story about micro-dramas! I emailed the editors saying they could delete that one from my list. "Great minds!" was the reply.

UGH. I get this. Pitching can become such a game of maybes. I don't spend a lot of time on pitches these days because it's often wasted time. #FreelanceFriends

I'm really tired of the editors who want the freelancers to come up with all the ideas, instead of working out a cycle of issues, assigning articles, and then leaving a little room if someone has a great idea.

Pitching can be a great way to work on projects that have both a monetary/work value AND feed your personal interests. I love getting paid to research and write on a topic I wanted to know more about anyway! So, why not play with pitching when you have open space on your calendar? #FreelanceFriends

The worst part was he liked a couple of the ideas, but his publication wasn't well known enough for the potential sources to agree to set interviews. One offered answering my email, but the client rejected that. #FreelanceFriends
