Zak holds up a gift-wrapped box. I gasp. “You shouldn’t have—” “Open it!” He grins, his eyes sparkling. I rip off the tissue paper to reveal… a very expensive perfume. “Zak… I can’t accept this.” This is the most expensive perfume I’ll ever own. The most expensive gift I’ve ever received by a long way. “Jina, it’s just perfume.” He takes the box and plucks the fancy bottle from within.“Smell it.” Zak brings the bottle to my nose. I sigh and close my eyes. This scent is heavenly. A MOST improper MARRIAGE
Moodboard titled ‘A Most Improper Marriage’ with five images. 1: young woman in a floral white dress and hijab smiling at a young man standing next to her. 2: a gravestone with red flowers. 3: a young man sitting down, his face in his hands as if crying. 4: a close-up of a bride and groom’s entwined hands. 5: a close up of the faces of the man and woman from image 1. 6: a cafetiere, a glass cup of coffee, ans a rose-shaped spoon on a wooden tray. The moodboard has the premise of the story written above it, which reads: The last thing Rujina expected a few weeks after her talaq is a marriage proposal from single dad Zakaria. She’s known Zak since they were teens; he’ll definitely be a better husband than her ex ever was. Quickly, she realises that marrying a widower comes with its own heartbreak.

Zane stops me with a finger to his lips and a motion of his eyes. “Adorable toddler on your four o’clock. Watch.” He leans back against a stack of bagged potatoes, arms crossed. “Is this what you do when you’re not accosting women?” I whisper, watching the mother of a toddler negotiate over a box of cookies the tiny boy brought over from the bakery. He shoots me a scowl at my accusation. “Socializing, not accosting. Grocery stores are the perfect microcosm of life. I find inspiration in watching people.” The mom lifts the little boy and lets him set the cookies into the cart. I can’t stop smiling. At the scene in front of us, and that Zane would be interested in such things. This man has way more layers than I first suspected. “Okay, that was adorable.”

Her daughter was in a little oak box... It took all Dagmar's focus to picture the young woman as anything but a burning, shrieking husk. To see her face, soft and smiling, eyes sparkling like the sea. Dagmar had stolen so many smiles from her.
No romance this week. But there was a spark involved.

#FRIDAYSpark “Please just call me Maya.” “You don’t like the name Amaya?” He tilts his head to the side. “My parents used to call me Maya and when people call me that, it feels like they’re still with me.” I shrug, smile. Ashraf flicks his eyes to mine and holds my gaze for a long moment. “I’m not sure I want your parents to be with us all the time, Amaya.” I’m taken aback by the smirk he flashes me. I never had him down as someone that smirks. A MOST inconvenient ARRANGEMENT
Moodboard titled ‘A Most Inconvenient Arrangement’ with five images: London skyline, a couple embracing in a nightclub, a young woman dressed in smart office wear, a close-up of a young couple about to kiss, a young couple arguing, a man in the middle of removing his shirt. The moodboard has the premise of the story written above it, which reads: “Heartbroken by the man she loves and the topic of office gossip because of it, Amaya now has to find somewhere new to live, too. So of course, she thinks an arranged marriage will solve all her problems! When Ashraf proposes marriage minus love—because he doesn’t want to love again but has to marry due to his mother’s ultimatum—it’s ideal for Amaya and they tie the knot. How long before this arrangement becomes inconvenient?”

Hot pink border decorated with fun squiggles and circles. Secrets We Keep Text: “Wait. Aren’t you going to tell me your name?” Halfway down the store aisle he’s at my side, his interest obvious. This time I offer him no polite smile with my answer, just a withering glance that says go away, along with a stern “No.” He stumbles to a stop, confusion clouding his expression. I pause for only a moment, then head toward the front of the store. The sooner I’m out of here the better. “But… but I told you mine.”

He smoothed her hair. “Be still, naughty girl. No more fighting.” Thrashing and growling like a trapped wildcat, she tried to sink her bloodied teeth into him a second time. “Get off me, demon!” “My name is Glaucus. And I’ve told you what I am.” Hells spawn. She bucked, strained, clawed, kicked—rabid for escape. Until his fingertips found her bare skin again. Then she stilled for him. Softened. A tingling warmth rippled from his touch, filling her with sweetness. Momentarily tamed, she leaked a groan.
If she didn’t want him to feed on her, she shouldn’t have raided his village.

Some kind of setup?” “What?” Grace frowns, her eyes darting between us. “He’s tequila guy.” She points a finger at me, her glare hot enough to melt me to the floor. “What?” Grace lets out a quick, sharp laugh that morphs into a cough, shooting me an accusing scowl. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve dreamed of pinning her to the wall behind me and sinking into her hot flesh. The temptation to do just that is powerful, but I have other plans. Plans that include tasting every inch of her body, making her scream my name over and over while I discover all the ways to make her come. To worship her body properly on a soft mattress, not against the shower wall. At least not the first time. #fridayspark Secrets We Keep

If you only live a few blocks away, we can walk there and talk some more. If you want, you can even phone now and check in.” He stood but shook his head. “I don’t think I need to phone. They should be okay for a little bit longer. I haven’t heard any firetrucks go by yet.” The background image shows a café.

"Your husband finally left you alone, then?" Navid asks cheerfully as he walks up to me at the bar. I'm sipping a fancy mocktail, allowing myself the treat seen as I skipped dessert. "His mum called during dinner. He's gone outside to call her back." "A mummy's boy and a devoted husband—a rare combination in cultures like ours." He nods, impressed. I swirl my drink. I'm so laid back and blasé it feels weird. I used to come alive whenever Navid talked to me, especially if the others weren't around. "I got lucky." "Did you? I know you hoped to marry for love." I sit up straight, surprised he's going there. "When I was a teenager." I roll my eyes. "You never wanted an arranged marriage." A MOST INCONVENIENT ARRANGEMENT

“I have a name,” she said with as much force as he’d heard out of her yet. Benton didn’t want to believe her, despite how pretty it sounded. “Yeah, sweetheart?” He finished his drink as she glared at him. A pink background with pink carnations in the top left and bottom right corners. There's a white sheet of torn notebook paper that says "I stormed upstairs, ready to lay into who I presumed was the culprit (Will would never). Classic fucking Mae. How could she be so disrespectful? Did she not know some of us worked? Did she have any consideration for others? Of course not, this was Mae I was talking about. She did whatever she wanted, consequences be damned. Even in my anger, I knew I was being a little unfair. Mae could be a generous and kind person. But at that moment, all I could think about was how selfish she was." It's taped with a black piece of tape and a pink heart is on top of it. At the top of the page it reads #FridaySpark and the bottom reads @daphnemwrites.
