CW: body horror and medical trauma. Summary: Fukunaga is a botanid, an alien, plant-like humanoid. Rarely does their kind agree to joint-expeditions with humanity, but after reports spread of a human-killing fungal infection, they decide to use their expertise and help out. Assigned planet-side to investigate what remains of a recent colony-wide outbreak, Fukunaga is teamed with Hiroo — a human tactical officer who, funnily enough, isn’t exactly known for its tact. This is not their first rodeo together; of course, when tragedy strikes, everyone sends their best to the scene. But, it is the first time Fukunaga recognizes just how fond he’s become. The mission is simple: find the biohazard and design a cure. Fukunaga wishes that was all he had to worry about.
