The texture can be so weird, somewhere between spray foam and wavy noodles depending on the specimen
#Fuligo septica, the Dog Vomit Slime Mold. It starts nearly white and progresses through colors and textures until it reaches a burnt orange crust. I have seen a lot of this lately. Pretty strange looking stuff!
