Pest control herbs & marigolds have attracted the first honey bees to my garden in 3 summers since the varroa mite killed off hives around the state
2 bees arrived just after Xmas, each couple of days more bees arrived, today I counted 7 awesome honeybees 🐝🐝

Nectarines I'm hoping to enjoy before fruit flies attack
Unfortunately the rosey red fruits are still rock hard, so I can't pick them yet

Basil plants growing as companion plants have fared well in the scorching heat.
This Thai basil plant had been attracting Eastern Rosellas earlier in the week before the temperatures got higher, at least cockatoos aren't attracted to basil like they are to sunflowers

Today's 41 C temperature was hard on the garden yet the increase of winds day and night since spring began has been the biggest battle in keeping moisture in plants & soils, even after a good downpour of rain the winds haven't been kind, and summer has just begun 🫣

The only lemon on the Meyer Lemon tree. How long will it last before the cockies steal it?

The bleeding hearts doubled over like a clam after very strong winds and rain got behind the mass of foliage, it's probably too late in the season to retrain the vine #GardeningAUS #Gardening 🌱

Guess which way the wild winds were blowing for 3 days
Lots of rain also filled up old pots, luckily frogs can swim, unfortunately lizards cannot

A few days of welcome rain must have disturbed a paper wasp clan
I could see about 8 wasps hiding under corn leaves, one looked like it was ready to attack as it turned towards me taking the photos 🌱 #Gardening #GardeningAus

Might be worth a try. I see #GardeningAus is around, but not much traction.
You have more followers than me (I'm new), so I wonder if you were to put up a post just pointing to a few of us trying to use the #gardeningau tag, and we share it around, something might happen?

Despite the scorching summer heat the watermelon, cucumbers and strawberries are doing well, plus we haven't had any bees around for 12 months since the Varroa mites affected the state's been colonies #Gardening 🌱 #gardeningaus

First ripened pod from Jamaican Baccatum pepper, very fruity flavour with a slow burn
Heat would be just under a red jalapeno but more fruity

After a week of hot temperatures, even the hardy plants were looking poorly today's 42C
It's rare to see watermelon foliage wilting because they love hot temperatures, however rhubarb doesn't, we need the rains again

The orange flowers of the Sword Lily (Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora).

Sword Lily (Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora) is a striking bulbous plant native to France. Sadly it’s an invasive weed here in Australia. It’s highly adaptable and out competes native plants in Aussie bushland. βŒπŸ™…β€β™€οΈ
