A pair of pretty red tulips
Got some blooming! Not sure if the “clump method” is all that much better than planting them individually aesthetically speaking, but it was certainly faster And I didn’t have to get out my earth auger.

This is some anxiety-inducing weather we’re having (thunderstorms, hail, tornadoes, floods?), but I did some #WinterSowing of okra, gourds, and pumpkins.

Trying again #wintersowing marigolds and cosmos. (I got almost no marigolds, some cosmos last year).
These are Crackerjack Marigold, Sparky Marigold, Early Sensation Cosmos, and most exciting…
Half of the Goth Garden mix from Hudson Valley seeds.

Miniature yellow daffodils
Some cute miniature daffodils in the back- I think these might have been potted ones I got at the grocery store last year.
Good to see you again, little friends!

#WinterSowing Dill, Rosemary, thyme, curly parsley, flat leaf parsley
I got this weird wine rack with hanging wire baskets from the local by nothing group and I thought it would be fun to use it as an herb garden.
Fortunately, 3 half gallon milk jugs fit really well in each basket. So now I’ve started them with seeds inside of big plastic tub.

Amaranthus
Cosmos
I had a few vacant minutes so I sled along some more #WinterSowing
Amaranthus, which I have never grown, but the variety name is “love lies bleeding” which is simply too Gothic to resist.
And Cosmos which are seeds that I collected from last year’s flowers. #GardenJournal2026.
Large ceramic planters with a cloisonné style pattern of insects and flowers In primary colors with a turquoise background
I rarely go to HomeGoods, but I had incredible luck last week with these two gorgeous Vietnamese ceramic planters and some Emile Henry and Staub bakeware.
Not sure what I’ll put in these, but I’ve got several weeks until the end of hard frosts to decide!

The top half of an African Marigold tied Upside down to a wood and cord trellis
We had weird weather last fall where it went from flowers to freezing in a day. I wanted to save the seeds from this African Marigold, but it was completely soaked.
So I went out in the rain and quickly tied it to the trellis with a pipe cleaner. The seeds dried perfectly!

Raised bed with sticks
Gourd raised bed
Taking advantage of this False Spring to speedily knock together a very simple raised bed out of 1x6s (6’x3’) for next summer’s gourds.
I did really well last year with building the bed early and putting in dead branches, straw, leaves, etc and then covering it with soil.

Milk jugs and snapdragon seeds
These are the children of snapdragon seeds I wintersowed last year. There’s a lot of chaff and pods here, but hopefully tiny seeds as well.
Curiously, the parent packet was pelletized, so I didn’t get a ton of germination, so we’ll see how the second generation does.
