See you next week 🌸
#GardensHour
Thanks all for sharing your March gardens, this week and throughout the past month #GardensHour
Not fooling you, it’s APRIL very soon and although it’s Easter Monday, we’ll still be here chatting all things garden and the weeks ahead.
See you then 👋
Think it is a Tulip breaking virus. I only grow tulips in pots so when this virus appeared l was able to bin the tulips and scrub out the pots. I did let them flower first as they were separate from my main pots. #Gardenshour

March in a collage.....

Two globe-like tulips, one orange & one red with yellow stripes
A red pointy tulip with yellow stripes
I've had quite a few tulips come up with yellow & red markings this spring, including 'Ballerina' (I think). Is this a virus & should I dig them up in case it spreads or are they fine to leave in the borders? #GardensHour
Epimedium pinnatum are opening. I love these delicate little blooms & the way they spread each year 🌱 #GardensHour
🌱Good evening All at #GardensHour! March was a weather roller coaster here but kept pushing through on tasks. Currently a glorious 🌞80°F/27°C in suburban Chicagoland & despite a few cool nights ahead, the pattern is finally settling.😎
Only ten minutes left #GardensHour
March is good because we can get out and do this - and take pics to share of course!

Here’s a planting idea for next March. saw it in a public garden and think I’ll borrow it for next year. Under deciduous trees.

A pretty anemone blanda (Grecian windflower). 🌱 #GardensHour
Delicate clematis blooms on the wisteria walkway 🌱 Inherited so unsure of variety #GardensHour
Legginess isn’t too much of a problem as they can be potted on up to their leaves. They develop roots all down the stem which is advantageous for drawing roots and nutrients #GardensHour
Lots of damson blossoms on all 4 trees. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 for a bumper crop this year 🌱 #GardensHour
A clump of white Daffodil flowers with rounded petals and short orange trumpet-like centres
Possibly my favourite of all the narcissus/narcissi/narcisusses/daffs, the fragrant 'Geranium' is doing well this spring #GardensHour 🌱

Also this March I’ve planted a few varieties of roses new to the garden. ‘The Churchill’, ‘Scent from Heaven’ climber, a couple of ‘Ballerina’ as a mini hedge and a couple of ‘Macmillan Nurse’ standards either side of a path. Looking forward to June!!

I love March gardens because the Dicentra starts to unfurl and give promise of what's to come ......
