A re-working of the Society for One-Place Studies logo. The normal version is a take on a UK 'tourist destination' road-sign, with One-Place Studies in white lettering on a brown background, with a white chevron on the right-hand side, and a white border, placed on a green background. Here, 'Place' has become 'Plaice' and incorporated into the green background is an image, in shades of green, of a Plaice. That's 20 minutes of my life I'm never getting back...

Apparently it's #GetADifferentNameDay. In view of the all the fish puns we've been responsible for over the last few hours*, maybe we should change our name to the Society for One-Plaice Studies?

#GetADifferentNameDay We need a new name for our house as there are at least 2 others called Orchard House in our village, but there are too many people in our family and we all have about 5 opinions on the subject. Being a Fairport Convention fan I favour 'The Ledge', but is it too niche?

We are looking at a biography on bluesky of the Merchant Adventurers Hall which has changed its name, possibly illadvisedly to Lord Flashheart’s Hall of Woof. Bark. Down boy! There is also a picture of a Tudor man with a curly blonde wig, moustache and ruff.

So it’s #getadifferentnameday.

The name Merchant Adventurers conjure up images of Tudor daring do and swashbuckling.

If you are from the UK they may also make you think of the TV programme Blackadder and a certain adventurer…
