A busy gaming table with the two books of Why We Fight: the Core Game and the Direct Action quick start. There's little character slips for the Freedom Phalanx crew, a mission journal, and a thumbs up from me for an excellent game. Also on the table: stickers from the game with the open hand community alliance logo, a community alliance crew member patch, a paper tablet with a names list on display, and an assortment of dice and writing implements. There's also Austrian beer and a game of Spindlewheel, that didn't make the cut this time.

I finally got Why We Fight to the table. We played a one shot mission from the Direct Action quickstart book - and I gotta say, I was quite impressed.

It takes inspiration from a lot of good and recent design, but it's really doing its own thing.

The boxed game Lovecraftesque Second Edition with three scenario packs on my kitchen counter. The cover features a young lady in Jeans and a jacket crouching down on a road at night to investigate a cobwebbed monstrous infestation in the headlights of an Oldtimer car. Her left hand is oozing black goo onto the road. Next to the car, there's a tentacled skull-monster menacing her from behind.

#Lovecraftesque arrived, at long last. I can't wait to try out the Second Edition. It's really beautiful.
