(사진=알티스트레이블) 파라는 나이지리아, 가나 등에서 발전한 현대 아프리카 대중음악인 아프로비츠를 기반으로 활동을 이어온 아티스트다. 그는 나이지리아 현지에 직접 진출해 각종 SNS 광고를 진행하며 긍정적인 반응을 이끌어냈고, ‘한국인 아프로비츠 아티스트’라는 스토리로 현지 TV와 라디오 등 여러 미디어의 관심을 받으며 첫 행보를 시작했다. 이 과정에서 나이지리아 아티스트 Bima(비마)와의 만남을 계기로 본격적인 협업에도 나섰다. 두 사람은 공동 작업을 통해 ‘GOGOGO(고고고)’를 발표하며 한국과 나이지리아 아티스트의 이례적인 협업 사례를 만들었고, 이를 통해 파라는 향후 성장 가능성을 드러냈다. 음원 작업에 그치지 않고 현지에서 다양한 활동을 펼쳐온 점도 눈에 띈다. 파라는 나이지리아에서 뮤직비디오 촬영은 물론 문화 체험 콘텐츠, 라이프스타일 콘텐츠를 제작하고, 여러 아티스트와 네트워크를 구축하며 현지와의 접점을 넓혀왔다. 알티스트레이블 합류 이후 파라는 이 같은 경험을 바탕으로 활동 반경을 넓혀갈 계획이다. 레이블 측은 파라가 음악은 물론 여러 형태의 콘텐츠와 공연, 브랜드 협업 등 다채로운 프로젝트를 통해 꾸준한 활동을 이어갈 것이라고 전했다. 첫 행보는 미니앨범이다. 파라는 알티스트레이블에서 진행하는 첫 프로젝트로 4월 나이지리아에서 떠오르는 신예 뮤지션들과 함께 작업한 미니앨범을 선보일 예정이다. 이 앨범 발매를 기점으로 음악 작업과 더불어 다양한 콘텐츠 제작, 공연, 브랜드와의 협업 등이 순차적으로 이어질 전망이다. 알티스트레이블은 프로듀서 알티(R.Tee)가 설립한 레이블로, 음악을 중심에 두고 패션과 아트, 문화 전반을 아우르는 활동을 지향하고 있다. 여기에 멜로에 이어 파라까지 전속 아티스트로 합류하면서, 국내외를 연결하는 협업과 프로젝트 구성이 확대되는 흐름을 보이고 있다.
