Just a little late night gaming on my original Game Boy. #gotgo
Game 16: Poker Face Paul’s Solitaire (1994)
Game Gear, via Analogue Pocket
I chose Klondike Solitaire because it’s what I’m most familiar with. I lost. All-in-all, I’d say that’s a good 1:1 expectation I’d have for Solitaire.

Game 15: The Chessmaster (1991)
Game Gear, via Analogue Pocket
I’m not very good at chess, but I did take an interest in this version of the game in a bargain bin at a game store. For a ‘91 handheld game, it has a myriad of options. The voice on the sound chip announcing moves is peak 90s. #gotgo
Game 14: The Long Reach (2018), Nintendo Switch 1st Gen
What’s interesting about this game is how often I find myself making faces at the dialogue, but then compelled to play more because of the story and the puzzles.

Game 13: Doom 3 (2004), on Nintendo Switch OLED
I can’t get over how cool it is that the dude typing in the 2nd shot is typing relevant information onto their PC for their superiors. Brilliant.
Also, the lightest and darkest areas contrast well.

Game 12: Namco Museum (2001), on Game Boy Advance
It’s just simple fun. I played these in the arcade and they’re still just as fun on a handheld. Except Pole Position that game can go to hell. The pause menu has tips on how to play, too.
137 games left. #gotgo #gameboyadvance #handheldgaming
Game 11: Conduct Together (2018), on Nintendo Switch Lite
I love trains. Conductor TOGETHER goes from cute fun to route management very quickly. The D-pad controls the turnout in different directions while button presses stop and start respective trains. Simultaneously.
138 games left. #gotgo
Game 10: Skee-Ball (2018), on Nintendo Switch Lite
I bought this Switch Arcade game a while back. I think I paid $2. It is. Not fun. And it tries to connect to the internet after every game. I’m sad. Because I love skee-ball. But not Skee-Ball.
139 games left.

Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego (1992) on the Sega Nomad (w/IPS aftermarket)
Did you know the Nomad had an AV out to play on home television sets?
The Carmen Sandiego games use clues to narrow the next country you’ll travel, and also the characteristics of the culprit you’re after.

Legacy of Goku I (2002) II (2003)
Did you know the first versions of the Nintendo DS could also play Game Boy Advance games?
Totally makes sense for a Gohan quest to be: find math book.

Atari Lynx vs Analogue Pocket w/Lynx Adapter #gotgo
Game 6: Pac-Land (1991) Atari Lynx II
Feels every bit like a ‘91 game as a platformer. You have three moves at your disposal: walk left, walk right, and jump. You can also hold the direction to run. Dodging, moving platforms, fruit/power pellet positioning to bait you into bad spots. Fun!
#gotgo
Bring your Atari Lynx to the breakfast spot, too. #gotgo
Game 5: Need for Speed Most Wanted on PlayStation Vita
I feel like racing is one of the more difficult experiences to capture on handhelds, but this one isn’t bad. Hopping to cars is exciting. Cops are relentless. The online looks like it was competitive. Plus Muse on the OST!

A Game Gear case called the Handy Gear sits open on the cushion of a wicker chair. On the bottom inside, rubber enlarged cushions sit to activate when closed. On the top side of the case hinge, a Game Gear sits inside of the case. The top is surrounded by a blue rubber protective strip.
The Handy Gear Game Gear completely shut. The front screen protector flap is closed. Enlarged buttons sit on the right of the device. One blue start button and black A/B buttons. The case sits on the cushion of a wicker chair.
The Handy Gear Game Gear case sits in the lap of Adrian and his brown shorts, orange shirt visible at the bottom of its hem. The case’s screen flap is open to reveal a magnified Game Gear screen showing the title screen of the game. “The G.G. Shinobi. Press Start Button. Sega 1991. Music 1991 Yuzo Kushiro.” The sun beats at the back of the case’s flap.

A picture of Adrian’s Wonderswan Color with a copy of Klonoa playing inside of it and the game on the screen. It’s sitting in the sun on a table. Adrian’s painted left thumb is in the bottom left. Above the Wonderswan is a copy of Gunpey in a plastic dust cover. Next to that, Gundam for the Wonderswan. Above both is Adrian’s shoulder bag with a Gyarados stitched on and a golden Glitch from Twitch pin.

It arrived, and I'm so happy. Tunic leapfrogged into my Top 20 all-time right after I finished it, and now I can play it on the go, with a physical cart for all my Switches, forever. Thank you.
And if you haven't played Tunic, please do yourself a favor. It's an experience. #gotgo #handheldgamers

Happy Birthday, Nintendo DS!
I still have my original Nintendo DS and box. Despite having Monkey Ball, I didn't dabble into it recently and good thing, too, because this DS may not have made it to 2024.
