Jupiter Keeps a Secret from the Magus of the North At fifty-six, Emmanuel Swedenborg - Polymath, Magus of the North - Encounters the spirit of Jupiter - Overseer of Oaths, Laws, Balance in the Solar System. Jupiter keeps a secret, Disclosed long after the Seer Swede has Sloughed off his earthly husk. Jupiter – Earth mass times Three hundred - draws asteroids, Comets into His field; Competes with the Sun in a Cosmic tug-of-war to drag Planets into His orbit. Thus endowed, Jupiter play-doughs Prototypes for Earth’s future Denizens. Edges His enormous bulk Closer to the Sun: Earth swells, grows rockier. Short, squat race Emerges: Savage humanoids - Filthy, brutish, coarse, Obscene, All Too Human, Obsessed with gimcrack, Gewgaw, knick-knack. Jupiter scoops up this Vile, deformed species. Squeezes, pounds, pummels Them back into an amorphous Plasticene mass. Edges His enormous bulk Further away from the Sun: Earth shrinks, becomes rarefied. Lithe-light, willowy race Emerges: Amorally rational, as Close as possible to the Dead while still alive – Passionless eugenicists Obsessed with their Cost-benefit calculus. Equine anthropomorphs, Jupiter corrals them in His Knacker’s yard. Boils their bones down to a Gluey, amorphous mass - Expelled as cosmic-snot Globule back into Deep Space. Jupiter returns His enormous bulk to its Original spot. New Earth emerges: Optimal conditions for Liquid water and Life.
