#AbrahamLincoln died #OnThisDay in 1865; I passed by this statue of the assassinated president on the UIUC campus 12 years ago this week (4.11.14); he restored the Union & brought about an end to slavery & stands head & shoulders above any of our other presidents...

#Canada needs to be VERY VERY CAREFUL about #Murica & the #StLawrenceSeaway 👀
The #US has funded #Québec #unrest before
in fact, the shooting of #AbrahamLincoln was possibly planned there, by the #USSouth

Int. A box overlooking the stage of Ford's Theater. From left to right, the occupants are Mary Todd Lincoln (who is facing away), Abraham Lincoln, Clara Harris, and Henry Rathbone. President Lincoln and Harris are chatting. Rathbone is watching them and smiling.
Henry Rathbone (on the right) is locked in a struggle with a wild-eyed John Wilkes Booth. Rathbone was able to grab Booth's left hand, but failed to stop Booth from slashing him in the other arm. The pain caused him to let out a "HRLK!!" sound.
A late night in the Rathbone home. An older-looking Henry Rathbone, his head clutched in his hand, stares off into the middle distance as he mutters "I... I wasn't paying attention... if I had just..." Next to him is his wife Clara, who is trying her best to comfort him.
Another late night. Rathbone, his face obscured by shadow, is standing over Clara's body. He has a smoking revolver in one hand and what looks like a knife in the other. Clara has been shot twice.
April 14, 1865. President Abraham Lincoln and his wife Mary Todd invited two people to join them at the theater that evening. The president would be dead the next morning. What happened to the guests, Henry Rathbone and Clara Harris?
