One thing to remember on confederate surrender day is that after the war many thousands of elite rebel officers and government officials had their citizenship restored and their lands left unconfiscated. They worked their way back into public life -- white zillionaire class solidarity is a […]

A quotation from Lincoln

> If A. can prove, however conclusively, that he may, of right, enslave B. — why may not B. snatch the same argument, and prove equally, that he may enslave A?
> You say A. is white, and B. is black. It is _color_ , then; the lighter having the right to enslave the […]

I'm tired of praising the amazing fucking #courage of the poor. I'm poor. But of the fucking #homeless. The truly #destitute. A shelter is not a home. Going to a job you hate only to return to a place that's not home is fucking #slavery. This shit has to end. It's not civilization.

I'm pretty sure there are other houses out there that were bought and paid for from the #Slavetrade just out of my sight.

After Recognition: The UN's Next Reckoning on Slavery Will global powers act—or stall—on reparative justice? By Ramesh Jaura This article first appeared on https://rjaura.substack.com BERLIN | 2 April 2026 (IDN) — The United Nations’ declaration of the transatlantic slave trade as the “gravest crime against humanity” marked a moment of moral clarity on March 25, 2026. Yet, almost immediately, geopolitical tensions and diverging moral philosophies emerged over what should follow. The vote — supported by 123 nations, opposed by three (the United States, Israel, and Argentina), and met with 52 abstentions from most of Europe — thrust the centuries-long question of reparatory justice onto the world stage in a new, unavoidable light. The resolution’s vision is sweeping: recognition of historical wrongs, reparative frameworks for the descendants of enslaved Africans, and concrete commitments to education, restitution, and non-repetition. But its implementation now faces formidable resistance from the very countries that built their modern prosperity on the foundations of enslavement and colonial exploitation. The challenge may no longer be moral acknowledgement — a consensus that slavery was humanity’s darkest chapter — but political will. The Meaning of Recognition At the heart of the resolution lies an unambiguous statement: that the transatlantic slave trade’s “scale, duration, systemic nature, and enduring consequences”...
