The Magnetic Rock section of the Border Route and North Country Trails opens up to rocky outcroppings with views of the semi-mountainous terrain of the Gunflint Trail. The narrow trail is bordered by spruce and jack pine. Hikers approach one of rocky outcroppings with small mountains in the distance.

We'd planned on skating the Gunflint Lodge's ice trails, but alas weather didn't cooperate this time around.
Instead we took a hike out to Magnetic Rock. Quite possibly the best hike in all of Minnesota.
