Hello, brother.
               Welcome to your final chance
                              to forgo evil.
                              See here, see how
                              your fear
                                                (fermented into hatred)
                              is unfounded.
 Those whom you have come to kill
           are all familiar:     grandmas, granddads,
                                              wives and husbands,
                                              sons and daughters —
                        families like yours.

 But if you can’t put down your gun
                 and join with us in peace,
                                   here is my body as a shield;
          it has five places ready to receive your wrath:
                                              the declaration of my faith;
                                              my prayers;
                                              my charitable gifts;
                                              my fast from dawn to setting sun;
                                              my journey as a pilgrim.
