You're welcome, Doc Remo! Will be posting the updated schedule for next week! :-)
I also want to encourage more people to join... I'm excited to know how other people think too! :-) #healthxph
Thank you steph for the apt topic and moderating! Get well soon helen. #Healthxph
thank you for moderating @stephaniemiaco.bsky.social let's hope we deal well with our own burnout experiences so it becomes stepping stones to success instead of fatal failures. #healthXPH have a great weekend everyone - self care to cope with burnout!
T3. I should have known myself better. Do frequent, life asset audits. Maybe you re in a burnout situation simply because it was handed down to you by society or someone else. Make, better, honest choices. Takes time, errors on the way, but you'll reap dividends, and restful sleep. #Healthxph
wow, how perceptive!
yeah, I guess early stages we are focused on working on oneself - to pass the initiation and be someone.
middle stages would be to develop and strengthen one's tribe and fix the systems.
I would assume that the end stages would be about leaving one's legacy. #healthXPH
And that ends our chat for tonight! :-)
Thank you Doc Remo @bonedocph.bsky.social and Doc H @helenvmadamba.bsky.social for joining! I appreciate your thoughts on this! :-)

Because systems has a life of its own. You can build and optimize one, but no one single person has control over it. I don't intend to anyway so I just go to my next project that interest me. #Healthxph
On top on learning skills to advance the art of our craft, we need to learn to "read the land" and be sensitive to political cues because although we are non-partisan, Health is Political. #healthXPH not everyone needs to know what you are doing.
If the early stages were a "you factor", the middle stages can become a "people factor". I see the pattern. #healthxph
as we get older, we learn to choose our battles. take a step back to enable yourself to take two steps forward #healthxph
T3. I'd tell myself not to try to do everything for everyone...but to listen more to older people have done it, and to not be afraid of what others may think or feel, but to prioritize what must be done. #healthxph
And also, of course, to get more sleep. Because it really does make things easier.
Middle stages of my career, I realized that it is not enough to be the best you can be, because outshining other people might not be politically correct - especially when you work with more senior leaders. #healthXPH bullying in the workplace can also be a source of burnout, so be kind.
"Being stuck" is one of the major causes of burnout. #healthxph
T2. I realized now that I am this- Builds/innovates>implement/optimizes> teach>handover>leave for next interest. If I'm stuck there, thats burnout for me. #Healthxph
And now, T3...
T3. If you could be outside your body, and mentor yourself as a young person, what would you advise, or, what would you do differently, knowing what you know now, at present?
#healthxph
Because systems are not always how you want them to work, right? #healthxph
I'll take that compliment. haha. But yes- i do think in systems and work on optimizing it, since HS I think. I'm not intellectually gifted, but I can connect dots, learn and harvest new and parallel skills and apply to my current niche. This is were burnout happen to me. #healthxph
In my article, I talked about how burnout can mean different things for physicians and healthcare workers at different stages. It is fascinating how changes in our body (and situations) can affect what causes burnout (and our perception of it) at different stages.
#healthxph
...by the heat and inconveniences. My idea of "peaceful work" is to just stay put and focus my energies and concentration on one case at a time. My technique has become more refined, and I'd like to focus on that. #healthxph
2/2
T1. My general guides navigating burnout- 1. Get out of that environ 2. Reflect on the situation by seeking consults - personal advisers, and yourself. 3. Try to find a way of testing if you coming back on such situations will make a realistic impact 4. Back vs. walk away #Healthxph
T2 is up!!
T2. In the middle stages of your career (if you are in it right now)what was burnout like for you, and how did you deal with it? Do share your anecdotes.
(Add #healthxph to your post to participate!) :-)
I find that getting my hands dirty with soil (or cocopeat) and planting vegetables make me feel better. Doing something manual can provide the endorphins I need when I'm stuck with a mental problem. On my condo balcony, I have a mini-vertical garden with tomatoes, okra, oregano, mustard #healthXPH
My staff remind me not to plan too many things no matter how exciting, to avoid burnout. #healthXPH we want to plan better and to ensure a comfortable pace for the work that we do so we hit our targets and keep a smile on our faces.
I agree with the "mostly physical" aspect at that stage of the career... I could do all nighters then without feeling anything the next day. #healthxph
Was it also the same when you were a med student or a resident, doc? You're so Admin-coded, I was wondering if you were always the type who organizes and manages systems, even from the earliest stages of your career... :-)
#healthxph
Next week-tuesday PM to sat PM. Let's meet #Healthxph
Am happy that our students are recognized for their work both in school and in the community. Recognition goes a long way to maintain motivation and prevent burnout! #HealthXPH We need to be generous with our praise!
the difficult thing during residency training was the physical exhaustion. mental and psychological issues came in during the senior years when the responsibility as captain of the ship really fell on one's shoulders... it was the patients' "thank you" that kept me going. #healthXPH
T1. I did almost all imaginable but still "sane" efforts to cope with burnout. It's that feeling of "helplessness" that is hard to cope. Fighting a persistently inefficient HC system. #Healthxph
I think I first experienced burn out fairly recently when I suddenly had to drag my feet to head for work, hard starting in the mornings. Having menopausal symptoms of disturbed sleep patterns did not help either, so I had to take some time off the rest my mind and recharge and reflect. #healthXPH
