l2l 1970s liubao today. standout body feeling. heavy, then relaxing and spacey, made me sink into my chair. i dont want to stand up. very long lasting aftertaste, very good longevity. probably still has more to give. needs longer steeps. sticky texture, nice taste notes. too pricey

today, 24 Sidao Tianjian and 05/08 Furun Jingpin Heizhuan. Sidao was bright, sweet, and light, with drying astringency and char in the finish. No smoke, no green. Furun was thick, rich, almost gelatinous. Sweet and easy, with herbal and almondy aspects. Very tasty!

also from today, allegedly 80s Liuan - very, very intense effect on the body. incredibly heating from the chest outwards, energising, slowly builds until it strikes all at once. profile is clean, lively, and slightly oaky. a bit too intense on the body though.

as with any new to me tea category, pretty hard to parse. opens with a chocolate note midway between qlc and hong that recedes into black pepper, thinner than lb and thicker than sheng. a bit drying. transitions into mossy and slightly caramel notes towards the end

TeasWeLike 70s Baolan Liubao
Great tea. Really unique, but recognisably Liubao. Dark herbality, a bit of black pepper, brown sugar, vegetal, slight bitterness, "camphor" are some of the tasting notes. Strong body effect, had to lie down. Aftertaste really lingers. Great longevity.

60s Laochapo from Daxuejiadao
As with the 88 Wild, this is a solid example of the genre. No off tastes, rich, woody, foresty, sweet, tobacco. Good example of Laochapo, the "yellow leaf" taste is minimal. I am brewing it wrong. But, just a Laochapo, and that is all. Exemplar.

tl;dr tastes and acts exactly like a liubao ought to (and how i expect an old bud heavy liubao to), good texture (brothy, coating). easy drinking, crazy longevity. good stuff - suitable as a yardstick with which to evaluate all other liubao

recently been drinking through some sichuan heicha. verdict: ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. this was the best of them, the 1980s from thetea.pl. sweet! burly yet gentle! smoky (without smoke) and rich, with no notes of sweat!

tried out an unrested Baishaxi 07 Qianliangcha. didnt intend to evaluate from this but it seems like a very solid tea. interesting chocolate and marzipan adjacent notes off to the side, nice full texture. sweet, but not very. dominant moss taste similar to other anhua heicha

brewing liubao like a maniac at 11g/100ml. this tea, 05 duoteli first grade, is weak enough that it needs it. i dont reccomend putting yourself in the position that you need to brew a liubao at this ratio for it to be good. its thin and steeps out way too quickly otherwise
