A hat made as a truncated cone covered in blue silk with a red flower pattern woven in. The hat is on a white Styrofoam head. Attached to the front of the hat is a V of white millinery wire that extends 4 inches to the front past the forehead and 6 inches above the back like antennae. A small loop on each side is to stitch through to make sure the wire does not slide forward or back.
The hat now covered by a veil of fine linen, hemmed on all sides. The veil is pinned to the wire and to the hat to drape in a medieval style. Easier said than done.
Trying out a new pattern, a short hennin with butterfly veil, from The Medieval Tailor's Assistant. Styling the veil is tricky! Any Medieval costume makers or wearers want to weigh in? #medieval #hennin #costume #cosplay ๐
