Feeling the need to pull in some Green Tara energy today. Hoping to give a good session to begin this next layer.
Starting Layer 4.

Work, Work, Work ...

When I start building up a painting, I keep it very loose and raw. I don't try to be perfect, that comes with the layers. I just capture what I am feeling.

Coming to the end of Layer 2. Now, to let it dry for about 10 days, only using a dry brush to fine tune the pigment.
Next layer will begin with a white glaze, center pushing out.

Thinking and planning.

It's like scoping a mountain to figure out which path to take to the summit.
Each path is a color, and seeing how they weave with the terrain. The canvas becoming a cave, reaching deep inwards, you find your way through.

The canvas just fits in my main painting area.
Easels for scale.

Prepping the big Canvas for God Factory. 72" x 48"
2nd of 2 Winter Commissions.
The sketch canvas is 30" x 20"

Done for today. It's going to be all dry brush the rest of the week..
As the Oil dries, I will keep pushing the Graphite to the edges, slowly defining them into focus.
Excess gets feathered into the texturing and shadows.
#hexGRAY
I love how Oil mixes with Graphite.
I can just push the lines shaper into focus and feather out the shading and texturing over the next few days.

Gallery Day, still the first month, and settling in.
About to do a 4 hour session on the Celtic Cross.

I feel like Imma 'bout to do penance.
My T-Suare, my Sword.
Fireplace to collect the ash.
Now for the Oil.

The Armature for a Celtic Cross.
An Armature is the skeleton of a painting or sculpture. It's my guide, controlling the energy in the painting. Like a Trellis, and the brush strokes are the Vines creeping up and consuming it.

Adding Oil to the Graphite, as it dries, I define the edges and tone of the Underpainting.

Getting a new Canvas ready.
This will be a 36" x 48" Celtic Cross. A commission for a dear friend.
I'm going to do my best to document the process.

When I first saw these paintings by Panini, I immediately knew I wanted my Studio and Gallery to have this look and feel.
Paintings scattered about in an awe inspiring space, with the slim feeling you may trip and fall into one of the painting's worlds.
