I so adore this little fellow! Isn't he marvellous? A wonderful spot by @wdmbox of this little #HiddenHornPlayer discovered in the Duke of Wellington’s Dining Room at @ApsleyHouse Hyde Park Corner.

A #HiddenHornPlayer (or a squirly trumpet?). Can the hive mind help identify where this is from? It was sent to me by Martin Schliemann who had it sent as a photograph from a friend in South Germany but he's not sure where exactly his brass player is.... Anyone recognise it?

#HiddenHornPlayer (though I think someone needs a word about how you hold that type of horn, though I suppose with flippers instead of hands there might be need for nuanced modification of technique somehow!).

#HiddenHornPlayer spotted in this rather striking art work by Grenville Moore entitled "White Fallow Stag" which the @Fosse Gallery chose for their Christmas greetings this year.

More #HiddenHornPlayer Angels spotted in the shops in Salzburg. I'm trying to work out if the one with the silver horn is going for a top A, F sharp or middle B flat? 📯🤔

The final #HiddenHornPlayer and #HiddenHorns from my trip to @metcloisters.bsky.social and I was fascinated to find this one! This is part of "The Cloisters Playing Cards" which date from c.1475–80 (South Netherlandish, Burgundian territories).

However(!) I'm unsure it's a positive depiction given the title: "Vanity Sounds the Horn and Ignorance Unleashes the Hounds (Overconfidence, Rashness and Desire)". Hmmmm.  #Hiddenhorn #Hiddenhornplayer

Another #HiddenHornPlayer from the @metcloisters.bsky.social I found the craftsmanship in this totally breathtaking. "Saint Aemilian Tends his Sheep and Receives a Blessing from God" comes from the monastery church of San Millán de la Cogolla and is thought to date from c. 1060-80 (!!!!).

Final photos from the recent Ensemble Pygmalion project in Bordeaux. I took a trip to the Musée des Beaux-Arts on one of our free mornings and spotted this #HiddenHornPlayer in this "Vénus sur les eaux" painting by Johan Zoffany (1760).

As I've just been in Leipzig I thought it an appropriate opportunity to share one of my favourite images,  Isn't she wonderful? This #HiddenHornPlayer can be found in "Die Harfenmädchen" by Georg Emanuel Opiz, part of his 1825 series depicting scenes from the Leipzig Fair.

I'm astounded that I spotted this #HiddenHornPlayer VERY high up on a building on Neumark here in Leipzig. Apologies for the slightly blurry photo but something made me look up and there he was! I think he's part of four images depicting the seasons? Nice cornucopia over the doorway as well.

Wow! David Vickers certainly had his eyes peeled to spot this #HiddenHornPlayer in this phantasmagorical painting! This is "Carro del Victor" painted by Domingo Martinez c. 1748 which can be found in the Museo de Bellas Artes, Seville.

I'm particularly fond of this #HiddenHornPlayer found in Georg Emanuel Opiz's (1775–1841) Die Bergmännischen Musikanten" from his 1825 series of scenes from the Leipzig Fair.
