It seems that Kiyo (the small concubine with short black hair) is interested in clothes and that her family has access to foreign goods, which probably explains why she dresses like a character from a CLAMP manga.

Given the similarities in coloration between the white-and-pink form of the Hinezumi and the second Medicine Seller's hair, I would propose that, as I suspected when we first learned Hinezumi's title, the second Medicine Seller is not a catboy but a ratboy.

What I'm saying is that shipping Kon Kusu and Sakashita is thematically correct, and even if the filmmakers didn't intend for their dynamic to be yaoi bait, it certainly worked out well that it is (and has been since we first saw Kon Kusu slam Sakashita into a wall).
