The wind was strong pushing the lanterns too close and causing some to burn as they floated on the river in front of the A-bomb dome - but that seemed a suitable tribute to the #hiroshima80 commemorations as 80 years ago the city was on fire for days

The peace lanterns floating part of the Hiroshima peace memorial event on August 6 is usually my favorite calm and beautiful part of commemorations but was so noisy with loudspeaker announcements and too many people seem to come for the activity lacking the deeper meaning of it 💔
