Title: City Man Charged In Beauty Shop Theft

George Robenolt, 35, accused of committing three burglaries in the same Binghamton business-apartment building in a fourth-month period, was in Broome County Jail today.
Mr. Robenolt (side profile of face featured below), of 5 Mather Street, was arraigned in City Court this morning on a charge of third degree burglary. A preliminary examination was set for Feb. 10 by City Judge Daniel J. Keane.
Detectives who arrested the painter and handyman yesterday afternoon, said he admitted two burglaries in Peter's Optical Co., Inc., and one in Ames Beauty Shop. Both are in the Ames Apartments, 43 Main Street.
Loot totaled about $106, detectives reported.

Loot $30
Detective Capt. Michael F. OO'Neil said a burglary at the Peters firm, operated by John H. Peters, was reported Aug. 31. Loot was $30.
A second burglary at the optical company, with $31 missing, was reported Nov. 6.
On Dec. 28, $45 was found to be missing from a cash box in the beauty shop, operated by Mrs. Dorothy J. Hoag. The shop had been closed over the Christmas holidays.
Robenolt was specifically charged with burglarizing the beauty shop Christmas Day.
Detectives Francis O'Brien and John Bernard, Jr., who investigated, questioned Mr. Robenolt after learning he had done painting jobs in the building.

Used Knife
Captain O'Neil said Mr. Robenolt "knew all about the place" and knew how to pry back the locks by inserting a table knife in the cracks of doors.
Mr. Robenolt relocked the doors and took only part of the money from cash boxes in the establishment in an attempt to cover the thefts, detectives said.
The pre-grand jury examination on the burglary charge was requested in court today by Mr. Robenolt's attorney, Conway M. Couse of the Johnson City law firm of Dann & Couse.
