Cylindrical amber bottle with proportionately wide neck & lip. It measures 4.7 cm tall by 2.2 cm wide.
Pharmaceutical medicine bottle with paper label stipples, tooled lip & "1/4/S" on base. Paper label stipples keep glued-on labels from moving until the glue dries. Tooled lips usually end by the early 1920s, though small pharmaceutical bottles might be later. #archaeology #glass #historics
Tall cylindrical bottle with blob top. The heel is 10-sided.
Hutchinson-style partially melted "Leesville Bottling Works/ Leesville/ Louisiana" soda bottle with "I.G.CO. 477" on heel (Green 2015, Fig. 13). The bottle dates between 1879-1895/1900 based on the Hutchinson design & the mark, either Ihmsen Glass Co. or Illinois Glass Co. #archaeology #historics

Red plastic Monopoly hotel with explanation about its age & that the wood ones were made from Maine wood that was shaped & dyed in tubs of coloring.
The plastic hotels & houses in the game Monopoly turn 68 this year. Prior to that, they were made of wood (Hasbro 2015 in Green 2015 pp.33). In the US these iconic games pieces are historic (50+ years old) artifacts when found on historic sites & need to be treated as such. #Archaeology #historics

2 mended green basal shards with Reed Glass Co. mark & [19]50 date; 1 colorless heel shard with Liberty Glass Co. mark & [19]52 date; colorless textured basal shard with Owens-Illinois Glass Co. mark & [19]50 date.
Some glass bottle maker's marks include a date code, as well as a plant/factory code (Green 2015, Fig. 11). The dates can be either 1- or 2-digit numbers. For 1-digit numbers we usually have to use the factory code to determine what years the plant was active. 1/ #Archaeology #historics #glass
Front & back of a tall, waisted bottle with raised lanceolate panels on the shoulders, midsection & heel, with a raise ring separating the midsection top & bottom. The writing reads (/ denotes new line), "DRINK/Try-me [script] / BEVERAGES [in banner] / TRADEMARK REG." on both front & back. Above the heal running around the bottle is, "TRY ME BEVERAGE CO." Under "TRY ME" is "CON 10 FL. OZ." on 4 of the raise panels. On the flat heel ring on the front is "61".
Try-Me Beverages began in Sylacauga, Alabama, ca. 1924 & went out of business ca. 1956. The unusual 7 oz. & 10 oz. bottles were patented in April of 1924. The glass is usually clear with a slight green tint. I illustrated this 10 oz. that came into the Lab. #bottles #archaeology #historics #glass
