This Holga panoramic photograph is of the Devil's Golf Course, situated within Death Valley National Park in eastern California. It is a large salt pan on the valley floor characterized by jagged salt spires and formations. The landscape was created by the evaporation of the ancient Lake Manly, which left behind mineral deposits. Over time, these deposits crystallized into the rugged salt formations we see today. The salt crystals are continually changing due to the effects of wind and rain. On warm days, you can hear the sound of the salt expanding and contracting.
