In the foreground, dark 1930s-era cars travel along Queen Street past the South African War Memorial—a tall column topped by a winged figure, with a base flanked by statues. Behind the monument is the front lawn of Osgoode Hall, ringed by an iron fence and dotted with leafless trees. The building itself, with its classical portico and arched windows, is shown on the left. Further back rises the distinctive clock tower of Old City Hall, with its green copper roof. Tall commercial buildings frame the right side, capturing a mix of architectural styles from Toronto’s early 20th century core.
