Oooh, research is both my fav and least fav part of writing, I love learning but it's easy to research forever and never start writing 😭 I try to look for sources as close to the topic as possible, usually through the language - which is why I need to learn every language ever😳

It’s so hard! But Wikipedia, for starters. I know, I know it’s research lite, but it is useful. I ask myself if my dialogue is too modern. A lot. I look up etymologies. And I ask myself how important it is to be accurate what can I let slide . #HorrorWritersChat

I have written plenty of things with a touch of magical realism. Right now, a romcom. A romcom! The last was a cozy paranormal thing. A family animated comedy, a historical fic series… I’m beginning to think I might qualify as a writer w/this list!

My stories focus on healing, which means there's pain, so they ain't cozy, but they are welcoming and diverse representation is very important to me, even the harem spoof

#HorrorWritersChat I'm Scribbler Johnny, my horror has jokes and kissing usually. I'm watching Whispering Corridors: The Voice, which is an interesting spin on the haunted school. I recommend it, as well as the first and second films in the series, but not the third.

#HorrorWritersChat I try to avoid time period or cultures where I have not at least read a number of solid novels about, watched movies, or studied. I also try not to overdo detail, but to remember that people are people, and to spend more effort on them reacting to their time. I love history.
