Hi! I write horror ranging between ghosts and hauntings, folkloric, slashers, and dipping into horror x romance/dark romance.
Currently reading Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness & A Court of Thorns and Roses.
I've been wanting to watch a movie but can't decide what.
I've got a friend whose special interest is history and who adores info dumping, so... I'll just give them a call lol #HorrorWritersChat

The Substance was fantastic, so I say Coralie Fargeat for the win!
Well, #Horrorwriterschat, these days I'd probably go to the library. Who dares ask the internet anything now?
Hei I'm Rascal, my pronouns are whatever pisses off the most transphobes, I write weird horror, and this week I'm reading this Viossa zine I forgot I signed up for and the book One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This by Omar El Akkad #HorrorWritersChat
#Horrorwriterschat I aim primarily for horror, but I often end up with drama and romance peppered in. I think I have a romance novel in me that's begging to get out ๐
Q4 #HorrorWritersChat I'm obsessed with Lesle Kieu's webcomic Dust n' Dread right now!!
Hi, #Horrorwriterschat! I'm JL, and I write spooky books for kids!
I just started The Midnight Children, which I'm liking so far! Just finished the Chevy Chase bio, which was about as Chevy Chase as I expected ๐
Q3 #HorrorWritersChat
Oooh, research is both my fav and least fav part of writing, I love learning but it's easy to research forever and never start writing ๐ญ I try to look for sources as close to the topic as possible, usually through the language - which is why I need to learn every language ever๐ณ
Q2 #HorrorWritersChat Kinda spoiled it with my first post lol but I write most kinds of fantasy and some alternate history as well! And romance, but that's a different pen name ๐
Q1 #HorrorWritersChat Hi all! I'm Robb, I'm always hesitant to jump into these because I'm not too sure I write exactly horror, but at the very least I write horror-leaning urban and historical fantasy. I'm currently reading Doctor Sleep and (slowly) watching Hannibal at last!

I have a classics degree & was a historian of the European witch trials. My research library is expansive. I also like asking experts for their two cents.

Recently did this for THE SPIRIT LIFT which takes place in 1998.
I switched to DuckDuckGo and turned AI features off, I was losing hours fighting AI to confirm facts
Wikipedia for dates when products were released
Watching 90s movies for what slang was popular then

Iโve got stuff, but the lunch break is over. Iโll try to circle back to everyone before the day is over.

Iโm a big Stephen Graham Jones fan right now. But there is so much indie horror in the book world right nowโฆ
Movies? Osgood Perkins keeps putting out intriguing indie horrorโฆ and A24 pretty much has a handle on the movie horror of the era.

Itโs so hard! But Wikipedia, for starters. I know, I know itโs research lite, but it is useful. I ask myself if my dialogue is too modern. A lot. I look up etymologies. And I ask myself how important it is to be accurate what can I let slide . #HorrorWritersChat
I have written plenty of things with a touch of magical realism. Right now, a romcom. A romcom! The last was a cozy paranormal thing. A family animated comedy, a historical fic seriesโฆ Iโm beginning to think I might qualify as a writer w/this list!

Hey #HorrorWritersChat. Iโm late per usual. But Iโm Diane. I write horror, in general, in many forms from scripts to novels to short stories.
What am I reading? The Children, by Melissa Albert.
Watching? The Boys tonight, probably. I also finished the Malcolm in the Middle reboot. And SPN reruns.
#HorrorWritersChat
Always Stephen King. Reading the books of James Herbert ATM, both The Fog and The Rats. I get a lot of books on Humble Bundle, mostly because I am poor at the moment. Though I really don't need to add any more to my backlog...

#HorrorWritersChat Most of the time I'm writing romance fantasy but my stuff hits harder than what gets called romantasy usually. My stories focus on healing, which means there's pain, so they ain't cozy, but they are welcoming and diverse representation is very important to me, even the harem spoof
#HorrorWritersChat I'll be using period appropriate tools and local slang when I can.
#HorrorWritersChat I'm Scribbler Johnny, my horror has jokes and kissing usually. I'm watching Whispering Corridors: The Voice, which is an interesting spin on the haunted school. I recommend it, as well as the first and second films in the series, but not the third.
#HorrorWritersChat I try to avoid time period or cultures where I have not at least read a number of solid novels about, watched movies, or studied. I also try not to overdo detail, but to remember that people are people, and to spend more effort on them reacting to their time. I love history.
Book cover for threads of obsession. Red background. Pale head being pulled back with long dark hair. Too many hands all over her and red thread draped over everything.
Thanks for another great #HorrorWritersChat my next horror publication isnโt for a few months yet, but you could have a sneak peek at the cover! My story is called โI Never Saw my Fatherโ and riffs on HG Wells โs Invisible Man.
#HorrorWritersChat I have written mysteries, thrillers, science fiction, tie-in novels... other than keeping me aware of and in touch with the dark side, I'm not sure that one helps the others, but the varied settings and experience help make it all real.
I'm C.R. Langille and I write queer/cosmic horror. I'm currently reading a super spicy queer romance titled, Horrors and Harlots by Trixie Adara.
