The dots are arranged to imply the silhouette of an f-style mandolin and the surrounding background. 432 of the dots are filled in with colored ink corresponding to individual hours of various activities related to studying the mandolin and playing it at jams and in a band.

Hours I’ve put into the mandolin this year (starting 1/25/25). Hour per dot. Colors correspond with categories such as practice, rehearsal, playing with others, listening, etc). Size is rough sense of the impact of each hour.
