‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’: Jeremy Allen White Reveals Rotta and Mando Run Around ‘Together’
On a recent appearance on the Graham Norton Show, _The Bear_ and _Bruce Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere_ star and voice of Rotta the Hutt, Jeremy Allen White, gave some hints about what to expect from Jabba’s grown-up son in _The Mandalorian and Grogu_ next year.
White starts by confirming his role as Rotta, pointing at a photo of Jabba saying, “That’s dad,” before talking about Rotta’s appearance and role in the film, apparently alongside the Mandalorian, rather than against him, for a significant amount of time.
> “It’s interesting, I can’t say too much about it. But I look very much like that in the film. I just do voice work in the film. I’m not, you know, putting on any (costume)… No funnel necessary… He’s just a bit broader (than Jabba), but still like a Hutt. It’s kinda like him and the Mandalorian running around for a lot of the movie together.”

The immediate follow-up question from host Graham Norton was a quick, “Rotta can run?” To which White responded with “Rotta can move, yeah. Quickly, yes!” Watch the whole exchange below:

This exchange confirms a few things that fans have been wondering about since we first heard of Rotta’s involvement and saw the first trailer for this movie. First off, Rotta can move much quicker than Jabba. We see Rotta’s much more muscular appearance in the trailer, and know that Hutts, like Grakkus, can move a bit quicker, speak in Galactic Basic, and even fight, unlike Jabba or many other crime boss Hutts we see in _The Clone Wars_ and beyond.

Secondly, Rotta may not be a villain like his father. That role could go to the Hutt twins from _The Book of Boba Fett,_ who are also confirmed to be making an appearance following their inclusion on the poster (see below). They may be set up as antagonists against Rotta and Mando, perhaps trying to steal Jabba’s throne from his now-of-age son. Or maybe good old “Stinky” doesn’t want to inherit his father’s criminal empire and needs someone to rescue him from a life of crime.

Either way, we will have to wait until May 22nd of next year, when _Star Wars_ finally returns to the big screen and _The Mandalorian and Grogu_ hits theatres worldwide.
