Steven Bellavia in Virginia sent us this great capture of the winter night sky from last Wednesday and wrote: "Some winter delights, including #Orion, #Taurus with the #Hyades, the #Pleaides, #Auriga ..." Thank you!🌌

The #Hyades cluster is the 2nd- closest star cluster to Earth, at a distance of 150 light-years. This compact V-shaped cluster is easy to spot in the night sky. It's the Face of Taurus the Bull. Read more at: buff.ly/MNzwvbz

A stunning night sky image captures the launch of an Atlas V rocket streaking past Sirius, with Orion, Hyades, Pleiades, and Comet Lovejoy visible in the background. The rocket's fiery trail contrasts beautifully with the glittering stars and celestial wonders.

April is beginning with a lovely view in the sky! Tonight, the #moon will lie near bright #Jupiter, as well as 2 star clusters: the #Pleiades and the #Hyades. You'll also be able to spot the red star #Aldebaran, the eye of #Taurus. Visit EarthSky’s night sky guide:

Serene night sky over a calm lake in Bolu, Turkey. Bright Venus and the Pleiades star cluster shine brilliantly in the west, reflected in the still water. Orion, Sirius, Aldebaran, and the Hyades star cluster are also visible. A peaceful astronomical scene.

🏛️ According to our Greek mythology, the #Hyades ✨ were a group of five nymphs associated with rain and fertility. They were daughters of Atlas and Aethra, often linked to the constellation that heralded the rainy season.

The brightest object in this view is The Moon. So bright that no surface features are visible. Lens flare beams away from the brightness of the moon.
Below the moon to the right a little is a bright point of light that is the planet Jupiter. Continuing down and to the right is a "V" shape tipped over a bit to it's left. That is the head of the bull in the constellation of Taurus.
Taking up much of the bottom left is the person shaped constellation of Orion, with all the familiar main stars visible. The upper left most red star is Betelgeuse, a red super giant. The three belt stars are also easy to see.

Just took a walk outside as passing rain cleared off to offer a nice view of the night sky! 🤩
I could easily see #Orion, The #Hyades cluster forming the head of #Taurus, with #Jupiter above, and the bright #Moon!

Have you seen the #Hyades lately? This #starcluster is easy to spot because it has a distinctive shape of the letter V. And watch for star Aldebaran and bright planet Jupiter in the evening sky.

Lovely sky right now, feels like we haven’t seen many stars lately. If you’re in the UK and #LookUp right now, you’ll see the #Pleiades and #Hyades clusters, the bright stars #Capella, #Aldebaran and #Betelgeuse (no, it hasn’t exploded yet), as well as #Jupiter. Here’s the view. #astronomy #space

You know how the #Moon looks enormous as it rises? The same illusion hits us with other sky things, too! This week, look how big the #Pleiades and V-shaped #Hyades clusters look as they pop above the rooftops at mid-evening. Next week, the near-full Moon joins the fun! #lookup

Watch for Some Distant Star Clusters in the November Sky | The Examiner News This time of year, change comes fast. With the leaves tangling themselves in our shoelaces, we all know that first snow is hiding just out of view.

Thanks, @ExaminerMedia for running my new article today about the #Pleiades and #Hyades clusters, and watching the #Moon cross between them.
