Finally home after a fantastic time in Montreal for the #CYHSworkshop2019 and #IUGG2019. What a busy 2 weeks with good discussions, reconnecting with friends, meeting #TwitterFriends in person, and inspirying science. Now it's time to get to work on all these new ideas!
#IUGG2019 conference bees
#iugg2019 and the winner is...
It's up @Wiggly_Earth #iugg2019
#IUGG2019 Antarctica is deforming post-seismically. Come and see obs and @nield_grace's new spherical finite element model predictions. I'll be talking 1.30pm today room 510A.
"Post-seismic deformation in the Northern Antarctic Peninsula following the 2013 Mw 7.7 Scotia Sea Eq"
#IUGG2019 to round out a fantastic day of glacial isostatic adjustment yesterday, thinking of mantle rheology (or flow), this was too good not to share.
#iugg2019 regular breakfast place not yet open due to weekend. Misjudged badly. Kmart cappuccino circa 1985.
Just presented on FIRE AND ICE (impact of forest fire on glacier melt) at #IUGG2019 or #IUGG19?) and had to resist the urge to a have GoT theme to my talk.. #ASongOfFireAndIce
#IUGG2019 amazing session underway in 516B on solid earth, ice and ocean interactions. At 915am I'll talk on behalf of @PolarGeodesy on the dramatic bedrock uplift in the Antarctic Peninsula, new constraints on rheology, and first(?) use of InSAR for this in Antarctica
@Canadianyhs meeting up with the @IAHS_AISH ECR organisers at #IUGG2019. Great ideas, common goals, lots to do for #ECR networks! @JorisEekhout @DoguluNilay @YoungHydrology @CGU_UGC @JorisEekhout
Great session on debris-cover glaciers at #IUGG2019! Do you have more to present on the topic? Maybe about the processes ON, WITHIN and AROUND debris-cover glaciers? You should submit an abstract to our #AGU19 session!
Made it allllll the way across the conference hall to hear about extremes events and precip. It's surprisingly far. Definitively a gap between the surface water and the above ground water (aka precip and atmospheric processes) #IUGG2019
Rain increasing in ... Antarctica? Sounds wrong. Welcome to the climate future according to @lenaertsjan. A less frozen continent awaits #iugg2019
#iugg2019 When is a trend a trend in Antarctic surface mass balance? Or a new one? Or what's its uncertainty? It's all noise... Hopefully not my talk at 09.15 in session C04 room 516C. "IUGG19-3877:Natural variability, noise and detecting new trends in Antarctic SMB"
Celebrating a great first day at #iUGG2019 with some drinks in the old port at Nouvelle Vague. Pretty awesome spot!
Already looking at #iugg2019 screen sizes with concern. Font sizes will matter people
Interested in solid Earth/ice/ocean interactions? Abstract submission open until Feb 18 for our session at #iugg2019 in Montreal, Canada in July. Join us there to celebrate 100 years of @theIUGG !
