CD#151 #IanBrown #Solarized 2004 follow up to Spheres. It feels a little livelier with some decent tunes. But many of the tracks suffer from some abominable lyrics. Laidback shuffle rock with a touch of electronica. I liked Solarized & Keep What Ya Got & Time Is My Everything best this time around

CD#150 #IanBrown #MusicOfTheSpheres 2001 album that is my favourite of his. Not everything is great, but it’s a vely laidback listen. Yes the lyrics have been heard before (as have some of the melodies) but it’s still all fine to these ears. Highlights: FEAR, Stardust, Northern Lights, Whispers.

CD#149 #IanBrown #FEAR cd single that is one of his best solo songs I reckon. Genuinely dramatic and with an excellent production. The b-sides are a version of the single with a different vocalist, and a version of the worst track on the forthcoming album.

CD#148 #IanBrown #GoldenGaze 1999 & sounds like some care was spent on the production this time. The album starts strongly but peters out a bit. The song Golden Gaze makes me feel like a boxer entering the ring for some reason. Good stuff, but not strong enough to have been played much recently.

CD#146 #IanBrown #UnfinishedMonkeyBusiness 1998 debut. Suffers from sounding like a collection of demos. Almost but not quite blinds you to some good songs: My Star, Corpses, What Happened, Nah Nah. Lions, however, is dreadful. Apparently much bile in the lyrics towards ex band mate John Squire.

CD#145 #IanBrown #MyStar in 1997 the Stone Roses had split after a disastrous tour where they kept losing members. IB self recorded this (along with his debut album) and whilst it’s a good song it sounds like vinyl being played through a needle full of fluff. The production is horrible. B-sides meh.
