Congrats to Will on completing @The_Iditarod! @ATAOkennel #Iditarod2021
Have really enjoyed watching #Iditarod2021. Looking forward to next year already...in-person!
What better way to close out #Iditarod2021 than with a most incredibly accurate mushing movie like Disney's Snow Dogs?
Because I follow @emilyyy_says, the Twitter algorithm is pulling up #Iditarod2021 posts. And my brain keeps thinking it's talking about a reunion show with @StephenMerchant, @rickygervais, and @KarlPilkington.
Congratulations to @DallasSeavey on his 5th @The_Iditarod Championship! #Iditarod49 #Iditarod2021
Don't think I haven't noticed the marked increase in the lack of masks in McGrath, Ophir, and Iditarod in the livestream. #Iditarod2021
Yay, @alaskandoggirl featured on today's episode of #iditapod! www.alaskapublic.org/2021/03/09/iditapod-slip... @alaskapublic #Iditarod2021 #Iditarod49
Will comes next about 6 miles behind Dennis (Go Will!). Victoria Hardwick is about 15 miles behind Will and Larry Daugherty and Hal Hanson are still in Rohn. Still a lot of teams bunched together at the front and middle of the field. #Willditarod #iditarod2021
Then comes the resting trio of Christopher Parker, Sean Underwood and Chris Stoddard at mile 220. Brenda Mackey is passing them now with Susannah Tuminelli not far behind her. Dennis Kananowicz is a couple miles behind Susannah. #iditarod2021
Then we have our first big gap. It's 22 miles back to Jeremy Traska resting on the trail. 10 miles behind him, Joshua McNeal is also resting on the trail. Dakota Schlosser is running about to pass McNeal. Joanna Jagow is resting at mile 221, 8 miles behind Dakota. #iditarod2021
Riley Dyche and Jessie Holmes. About to arrive in Nikolai are Cody Strathe, Anna and Kristy Berington, Matt Hall and Matt Failor. I don't remember the field still being this packed together in past years. #iditarod2021
Still resting in Nikolai are Ryan Redington, Aaron Burmeister, Gunnar Johnson, Nic Petit, Aaron Peck, Wade Marrs, Martin Buser, Ryne Olson, Mille Porsild, Jessie Royer, Michelle Phillips, Jeff Deeter, Dan Kanduce, Ramey Smyth, Paige Drobny, Lev Shvarts ... #iditarod2021
Mid-afternoon check in on the field. Up front, Dallas Seavey is leading the way 25 miles from McGrath. He is followed by Richie Diehl, Joar Ulsom, Pete Kaiser, and Travis Beals. Brent Sass is resting on the trail as mile 270 (41 miles from McGrath). #iditarod2021
Why no, I'm not just watching snow fall on a bunch of drop bags in Nikolai, why do you ask? #Iditarod2021
Understandable that an out/back race could have some tracking glitches, but my @FMushing team is PUMPED that Ryan Redington is only 67 miles away from the finish. THIS IS THE FASTEST IDITAROD FINISH TIME EVER!!! #iditarod2021
Will is trucking along in 32nd and recently shared the trail with his mentor, Martin Buser. I’m sure that was a special moment for Will. #Iditarod2021 #Willditarod
Well, now that dinner is done, it appears the aliens have returned all the mushers and I presume, none are the worse for it. Out front Richie Diehl is setting the pace, followed by Aaron Peck and Pete Kaiser. Nic Petit is in 7th and Ryan Redington 11th. #Iditarod2021
Happy #Iditarod2021 Day everyone! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oK6pU8wQWtk
Alright gang, all the teams are on the trail and we are officially underway. First checkpoint is Skwentna, 67 miles down the trail. Currently half the mushers have disappeared from the tracker, so we’ll hope that gets fixed soon. 🙄 But for now, it’s dinner time. #Iditarod2021
And the last musher, Victoria Hardwick (bib #48) is in the chute. Victoria finished in 2019 and was part of the group Blair ran with or a little while. Good luck Victoria and team!! #Iditarod2021
Sean Underwood (bib #47) is in the starting chute. He was the musher who was Jeff King’s last minute replacement last year and almost made it to Nome before hitting nasty overflow on the coast. Good luck to Sean and his team of Dallas Seavey dogs. #Iditarod2021
Joar Leifseth Ilsom (bib #41) is in the starting chute. He’s a former winner and always in the top 5 or 10. Definitely a contender this year as always. Good luck to Joar and his team! #Iditarod2021
Aliy Zirkle (bib #32) is in the starting chute. This is her last Iditarod. She’s entered 20 prior to this year and has finished every one of them. She’s undoubtedly the sentimental favorite and I hope she has the time of her life. Good luck Aliy and team!! #Iditarod2021
Will Troshynski (bib #27) is in the chute!! The dogs look great and Will looks ready!! Good luck to Will and the team. So proud of them!! #Willditarod #Iditarod2021
Jesse Royer (bib #24) just left and she’s the first musher that didn’t even have a seat on her sled. Just the front sled bag. I’m sure that’s significantly lighter, but less room to carry stuff and no place to sit down ever. But she’s tough. #iditarod2021
Dallas Seavey (bib #23) is in the chute. He makes is return to the race after missing the last 3 years. 4 time winner. Glad to have Dallas back at the Iditarod. Good luck Dallas and team. #iditarod2021
Ryan Redington (bib #20) is up next!! The neon is shining brightly, the dogs are trying to fly and they all look ready to go! Good luck, Ryan and team. #iditarod2021
Brenda Mackey (bib #15) is in the starting chute. Coming from a family of mushers, she took some time away from running dogs to have and raise kids and now she’s built her kennel back up. #Iditarod2021
Nic Petit (bib #10) is about to leave! The dogs look great and Nic looks ready! Go #teampetit #iditarod2021
Millie is watching all the very good dogs at @The_Iditarod start! #NightlyMillie #Iditarod2021
