Genuinely love the part with Chiyo and Asa and wished we had more of it. Alas.

Confronted with a reflection of her callous attitude towards Emiri in this background chatter about Chiyo, she sat down. Then at the end, she's fine walking slightly behind her friends. There is no distance, she is behind them bc the road is small, nothing else.
Asa has grown. #ikokunikki
Last couple of eps have been brighter and lighter bc Asa herself have moved on from the suffocating grief she didnt know she has.
The show is rooted firmly in her headspace until the end, and the smoothness of the transition from accepting grief to recovering is truly seamless. #ikokunikki
Watched the last ep of #ikokunikki while waiting for frontline queue.
Smooth landing as expected.
I think anime is rushing the context that necessitated the time skip epilogue so it just feels jarring. Otherwise, great ending.
BTW #IkokuNikki #JournalWithWitch is probably THE BEST anime of Spring season for me. AMAZING dialogues, amazing presentation, excellent characters and development. Amazing.
Anime of the Season? Definitely. Anime of the Year? Likely.

Journal with Witch is a show where the premise could have easily been schmaltzy with a teen girl who lost her parents then has to reconnect with her estranged aunt. Thankfully that is not the case since these characters felt organic and relatable. And the editing is really good!
