When my mum in law died a few years ago we found a huge “archive” of family history including 200 postcards dozens of which had been sent by her father Joe, to her mother ,Sarah, from the Front By cataloguing them in date order I was able to trace his journey from training camps in England, to the Front and back again to a military hospital. A really interesting and engrossing task! http://historicalclues.blogspot.com/2022/01/postcards-into-past.html
We have lots of documents from my husband’s family ww1 connection including medals, postcards, autograph books photos, sketches and more. Sadly the Liverpool record office, museum or IWM don’t want them
We have 8 family Bibles including one issued in WW1 and some going back to the 1850s. No-one wants them.
The collection. All from one liveroool family going back 160 years. It’s such a treasure.
It’s #internationalarchivesday so let’s hear it for those of us preserving family archives because bigger ones won’t.
