A monochrome fan comic for In Stars and Time. It depicts Siffrin, before losing his eye and with shorter, all-white hair, laying in bed, thinking. He thinks, 'Sometimes, you feel like a character in a play. Like you're watching yourself from the outside. (You only think these things when you're alone with your thoughts for too long.) But time doesn't feel real. Your life has been skipped through, like a memoir only telling certain stories from someone's life. You don't feel real.' The next panel shows outlined, nondescript people, with text that says, 'It feels like people know there's something wrong with you, too, just by looking at your body.' The panel next to it shows the same outlined people, but with Odile, Mirabelle and Isabeau's features poorly scribbled on. It says, 'Your friends probably know there's something wrong with you, too.' The last panel shows Siffrin turning onto his side, his eyes barely open and looking exhausted. He thinks, 'It's not quite that you don't want to exist. But you don't want to be seen.'
The next page of the comic is mostly a black to white gradient. In the darkest black area, it says, 'It's... what... you... want.' In the darker gray area, it says, '... You wake up.' In the lightest gray, it says, 'You wonder if someone already got breakfast.' The drawing underneath the gradient shows the pillow and blanket Siffrin were sleeping with. The blanket is resting as if it is still on top of something, and the pillow is creased like there's still a head resting on it. Text below this says, 'You smell burnt sugar.'
A monochrome reference sheet, of sorts, introducing the AU. It is titled, 'Invisiffrin AU', with the subtitle, 'A pregame AU where Siffrin avoids confronting his gender dysphoria by wishing for a fun, new body-related problem!' There is a bullet point list below. It reads: 'Siffrin becomes invisible (body dysphoria) and mute (voice dysphoria) as a result of his accidental use of Wish Magic. Siffrin communicates with sign language. The gang have to go on a side-quest to try and restore his visibility! A heavy-handed metaphor for repression and dissociation. Externally and internally, everyone refers to Siffrin with he/him only, as nobody knows he's nonbinary (though Isabeau has his suspicions...)' To the left of this information is a portrayal of invisible Siffrin, where only his hat, cloak and gloves are visible. He is signing something, and a speech bubble is coming out of around where his hands are, which says, '*joke!*' The sign he is doing is literally ASL for the word 'joke'.
Fascinating to me that someone as repressed as Siffrin seems to have had no issue coming to terms with his gender...
**Cracks knuckles** Let's fix that. :)
