This week I visited New Orleans for the @ire.org Conference. I’ve attended nearly every conference since 2018, and this time I joined as a panelist to talk about using legal records in environmental investigations. It was such a great opportunity! #IRE2025

The funniest part of #IRE2025 is that after the riverboat “cruise” we paid for turned into “the riverboat goes nowhere,” innumerable reporters started investigating why the boat just sat at the dock. I believe it even got brought up at a panel today. I await the exposé.

Random observations and takeaways from the #IRE2025 conference that have almost nothing to do with the panels:
1) Apparently I look like a student because a couple of people asked where I go to school.
2) I'm clearly out of my depth because I didn't even think to bring my laptop.
2 moonpies. One is a caramel color and the other is chocolate.
I'm currently learning how to investigate these moonpies from the CBS booth #IRE2025
I'm totally in the same room with the Director of the Internet Archive.
I'm going to propose to him.
