With the oceans in so much trouble, not least passing the planetary boundary for ocean acidification and the tipping point for coral reefs, this is an area that deserves a lot of research and consideration.

Quite! That said, to be fair, #BlueCarbon is another one where there's often a significant gap between the way its proponents talk about it and its likely role in carbon storage. Unlike #IronFertilisation, however, it can have side benefits (biodiversity, flood defence) that still make it useful.
