Yβall, I have a book coming out.
I edited and summarized the great work for my friends and colleagues.
Iβm so proud of their work on this. And so thankful that they submitted such great chapters.

Screenshots of the visualizer.
Cool visualizer by @ssaltman.bsky.social maps habitable-zone #exoplanets within the sphere of humanity's radio signal influence.
Includes an "earliest reply date" in case anyone on #exoplanet is listening...

I made this graphic to help my #astronomy students visualize roughly how fast the New Horizons #spacecraft was traveling for most of its journey to #Pluto.
It's currently 61 AU away from Earth (17 light-hours), deep in the Kuiper Belt.
Inspired by @xkcd.com!

#Astronomy Fun Fact of the Day: The National Radio Astronomy Observatory keeps a small number of railroad maintenance workers on staff. Why? Because the 28 dishes that make up the Very Large Array are positioned via railroad tracks.

Here's another bonus #puzzle I give to my #astronomy students if they finish a quiz early. Every team has an astronomy-related term in its name.
You don't need to know every #sports team; you only need to solve the phrase highlighted in yellow to win.
Can you solve it?

In #Astronomy class we used the Big Dipper to find Polaris and reckon the latitude of Arendelle in Frozen II.
You can kinda-sorta see the Big Dipper during "Into the Unknown." Turns out the latitude is 90Β°N; North Pole!
Fun to practice a real-life task in a fictional context.

We took an infrared class photo in #Astronomy class today. We're currently learning about all regions of the EM spectrum and about false coloring, so we set up an infrared photobooth for the students, complete with "props" of various temperatures. #iteachastro #science #STEMed
My #Astronomy students are learning about the EM spectrum so I set up an infrared camera "photobooth" for them to play with, complete with "props" like an ice bath for their fingers and hot/cold golf balls.
Here's me messing around with it during setup.
