This is Ashlar Ridge in Jasper Park. This photo was taken alongside the cabins by the hot springs. The road to Miette Hot Springs this year was still down to one lane in a section because of a landslide.

This is Roche Ronde in Jasper Park. I climbed up the side of Hwy 16 by the old Fitzhugh Lime mine in the evening. The Aspen trees were too dense for a sweeping landscape shot across the river but I managed this on the way down.

Athabasca River by Morro Slabs and Hwy 16 in Jasper Park Oct 1 2025. The fires last year were extensive around the town of Jasper. A few trails still have to be cleared before they are open again (such as the Valley of the Five Lakes).

Burnt landscape after a forest fire in the Rocky mountains. Snow capped mountains in the distance.

Skyline trail off the Maligne Road in Jasper Park, Alberta at the end of May 2025. That is Hwy 16 in the distance by the mountains. The trail has been cleared of all the fallen burnt logs, but the fire was just last year. Eerily quiet.

Winter in the Canadian Rocky mountains, there is evening light on three peaks in the distance. A turquoise river, mostly frozen, runs toward the viewer. All the trees in the distance are carbon black trunks from the fires in summer 2024.

Snow covers the lower slope of a jagged mountain. The grey limestone rocks on the top of the mountain have been pushed up to vertical then eroded into triangular shapes. There are a lot of jumbled cliff faces. Fir trees line the left hand side of the lower slope.

This jagged mountain is in the Canadian Rockies, Jasper Park, east from the Palisades Centre area and Hwy 16. It is part of the Colin Range. The grey limestone sedimentary beds have been pushed up to vertical then eroded into the triangular shapes.
