Lure I've taken the hooks off of to use as a key chain
It's very special to me
We have a family cottage and used to spend summers up there
I lost my grandparents very young
4,6,11 & 22 (my ages) but for family reasons we also weren't very close
But there was an older couple who had the cottage beside ours, and they were wonderful people
I used to go over there for sneaky pops, which we were never allowed to have at home, so the wife always had on hand for us (cream sodas 😋)
The husband loved to fish and I'd talk endlessly about him to, and listen to his big fish stories (much to the relief of his wife I'm sure)
He'd come over and use our dock once we'd gone back to Toronto in the fall since the bass like to schoal under it
He lost this lure under the dock and I found it the next summer or maybe the summer after that while I was swimming. I brought it back but he told me to keep it
And I do.
Because life isn't about the things you have or don't have, its the impact you have on the people around you.
And honestly, I don't remember his or his wife's name, but I do remember how they made me feel
And I think about them both every time I start my jeep. Feels like home, luke warm cream sodas, and bass fishing on the lake❤️
Another parent commented when I was handing my keys to my my youngest, and now I have a new best friend
